| NIBA 92nd Championship of Ireland Contest test Pieces |
The 92nd Championship of Ireland Contest will be held in the Market Place Theatre, Armagh on Saturday 24th and Saturday 31st October 2009. The Accordion, Flute and School Sections will be on the 24th October 2009 (Adjudicator Sandy Hay) and the Brass and Concert Band Sections on 31st October 2009 (Adjudicator Peter Bassano),
The test Pieces have now been announced and full details have been sent to all band secretarys. The are as follows:

| NIBA Individual Membership |
The North of Ireland Bands' Association has decided to offer individuals who may not be members of bands but interested in listening to bands the chance to become 'Individual Members' of the Association . For an annual membership fee of £10.00 you can receive regular updates of what is going on in the world of banding e.g. dates of contests, concerts, outdoor performances etc. If interested please contact the Association Secretary. | Laganvale at Blackpool Senior Trophy Contest |
Laganvale Metal Technology Band made the trip to Blackpool on Saturday 9th May. They gained a very creditable 4th place in the competition. For full results click on the LINK
| Murley Silver at European Brass Band Championship |
Murley Silver Band represented Northern Ireland and the NIBA at this years European Brass Band Championship. This was the second consecutive European Championship for the Murley Band as Irish Champions.The contest took place on the morning of Saturday 2nd May 2009 in the Kursaal Theatre, Ostende, Belgium. The full entry for the B Section was as follows:

Belgium was the destination during the last week in April , first week in May for two young members of St. Joseph’s Brass Band, Tenor Horn player Amanda McGinley and Cornet player Darren Barr, after they secured places with the European Youth Brass Band. They took part in a number of concerts in Belgium. These concerts were held during the week of the prestigious European Brass Contest.
| NIBA Annual General Meeting 14th March 2009 |
The Annual General Meeting of the NIBA was held on Saturday 14th March 2009 at 7.00pm in Laganvale Bandroom, Wansbeck Street, Belfast. The main changes were as follows: Tom Mercer (1st Old Boys Silver) was elected Vice President of the NIBA, Richard Whiteside (Poyntzpass Silver) was elected Vice Chairman, Andrew Gamble (Kellswater Flute) and Amanda Beggs (Ballyclare Victoria) were elected to the Executive. The 5 No notices of motion which were proposed by the Executive of the NIBA were all approved. The Notice of Motion put forward by Ballylone Flute Band was withdrawn.

At the Annual General Meeting the application by the 39th Old Boys Flute ensemble to rejoin the NIBA was approved. They were welcomed back and we look forward to them particapiting in NIBA events in the future.
