 | 93rd Championship of Ireland Contest 2010 - Preliminary Details |
At the NIBA delegate meeting in Ballyclare on Saturday 14th November it was
agree after discussion and taking into account all of the issues, not least
being the costs associated with the event and the support to date given by the
Armagh City and District Council to the event, that the above contest would be
held in the Market Place Theatre, Armagh on Saturdays 16th and 23rd October
2010. The Brass / Concert bands will be on the 16th October and the Flute /

etc are still to be arranged.
 | European Youth Band 2010 |
The European Youth Band (EYBB) will be convened in Linz, Austria, from the
25th April to 2nd May 2010. The NIBA have been requested to provide players
between the ages of 17-21. This year so far we have not been told which
instrument places are to be allocated to the NIBA. Therefore it has been decided
to audition players for all brass instruments and percussion. Details of any
NIBA registered young player eligible should be with the NIBA Secretary (details
see Home Page) not later than 21st November 2009 at the latest for the
auditions which will be held in December 2009.When we are advised which
instrument places the NIBA is being requested to fill the players of those
instruments placed highest in the auditions will be selected. Please note
that this means that the best player at the auditions may not be selected unless
his/her instrument is one that the NIBA are asked by EBBA to provide. The costs
of all tution, accommodation, meals, events and activities will be covered by
the organizers in Linz. The NIBA will pay £100 towards travel costs. In
addition grants are normally available from the Brass Band League to each player
selected to assist with travelling expenses. The decision of the person
appointed by the North of Ireland Bands Association (NIBA) to conduct the
auditions will be final. No nominations will be accepted after the closing date.
